Nornveil is a writing and worldbuilding companion for authors who are tracking more than a story — they're tracking a world. Nornveil pairs a distraction-free manuscript editor (the Scriptorium) with a living World Codex — your characters, locations, factions, magic systems, and timelines, all cross-referenced and searchable. As you write, Nornveil's AI features can help track continuity, suggest entries for new characters or places, and offer feedback through Scribe's Counsel. Everything is built around one idea: your world should get easier to hold in your head over time, not harder.
Authors working in lore-heavy fiction — epic fantasy, romantasy, paranormal, anything with a cast and a world big enough that "I'll just remember it" stopped working a while ago. Nornveil was built for exactly that kind of project: one with years of history behind it and a lot of moving pieces to keep straight.
Nornveil is in beta. Beta access is open now. During beta, we're working closely with a small group of authors to test the manuscript editor, World Codex, and AI features under real writing conditions — long manuscripts, large casts, the works.

The real solo-author workspace — everything in Inkwell, plus the craft tools: Codex Lens, Voice Check, and Write As + Channel, with the full import pipeline. Exact limits are set at launch.
The serious book-and-series tier — everything in Quill, plus Story Bible Analysis and cross-book Series Check to keep continuity straight across a whole series. Higher limits, set at launch.
The heavy/pro tier — everything in Scribe with the highest limits, for authors who are in this world every day. Limits set at launch.

No. Nornveil's manuscript editor, World Codex, and organizational tools work fully on their own — nothing about writing, organizing, or browsing your world requires AI. The AI features (Story Bible analysis, Scribe's Counsel) are optional layers you can turn to when you want them, and ignore entirely if you don't.
When you use an AI feature, the relevant text (or, for Image Lab, your prompt and style choices) is sent to the AI provider that powers that feature — Anthropic for text analysis, OpenAI for image generation — only at the moment you invoke it. Nothing runs automatically or in the background.

If you've already got a manuscript, notes, or a story bible written elsewhere, Nornveil can read through it and suggest World Codex entries — characters, locations, factions, and more — based on what it finds. Nothing is added to your Codex automatically: every suggestion lands in your Review Queue, where you approve, edit, or discard it.
Larger manuscripts are processed in sections automatically — you don't need to split anything yourself. Import runs in the background, and you can keep working while it finishes.
You do. Everything you write, every Codex entry, every note — that's yours, and Nornveil claims no ownership over it. This extends to AI-assisted output too: character profiles or continuity notes drawn from your own manuscript are treated the same as anything else you've written. Image Lab artwork generated from your prompts is yours to use, within and outside the Service.
(One honest caveat on pure AI-generated images specifically: U.S. copyright law around AI-generated works is still unsettled, so we don't promise something we can't guarantee on that front. Details are in Terms of Service Section 6.4.)
Yes, on both counts.
Exporting: The Export World feature lets you download your manuscript and World Codex at any time — no waiting, no asking permission.
Closing your account: Email privacy@nornveil.com and we'll process the deletion within 30 days. Some records (like billing history) may be retained longer where the law requires it, but your creative work — manuscripts, Codex entries, everything — is deleted along with the account.
We'd rather you stayed, obviously. But your world is yours to take with you if you don't.
A lot has shipped recently — Write As + Channel (voice-matching modes in Scribe's Counsel), Codex Lens (inline entity highlights across your manuscript), and Voice Check (comparing your manuscript voice against a built profile) all went live in June 2026.
What's still in flight: the Continuity Engine is the biggest active build — scene-by-scene tracking of what's been established, with contradiction flagging, Book Shape analysis, and a Continuity Report already live in beta. Multi-book support is the remaining milestone. After that: Image Lab moves from alpha to production, and Author's Desk (research, timelines, and publication tracking alongside your manuscript) is next in the planned queue.
